Paul was hired to teach the vocal workshop and Feleboga was invited to play a "camp concert" on the fringe of the official festival program and had a wonderful, large and attentive audience. The Bluegrass crowd certainly was interested in our old-time music! On the second day our Kattinge friends of the New Valley Stringband from Sweden arrived and we had a roaring old-time session.

And the workshops, the bandlab and the Bluegrass concerts were great, too. See you all next year!
Felebogatag:feleboga.com,2005:Post/69082682022-02-26T22:16:46+01:002023-12-10T18:28:20+01:00Coffee Break CD is online!
We finally put the tracks from our CD "Feleboga Coffee Break" out on the net.

But there is still a lot to do as people are imaginative in finding alternatives to meeting for sessions and concerts. The Richmond Old-time gathering in London was just held online this weekend and we managed to contribute on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/hanshinrich.thedens/posts/10156680202701017?notif_id=1586614925556657¬if_t=feedback_reaction_generic.

Every night we are playing the "Noony tune" of the day, following an initiative by Shira Kammen.
Felebogatag:feleboga.com,2005:Post/60708582018-07-15T02:00:00+02:002023-12-10T18:28:20+01:00Stringband CD done and available
Our CD "Tugboat to Hamburg" has been delivered and will be available from CDBAby and us directly shortly.

Unfortunately CDBaby has closed their online shop. While we are looking for an alternative, just write to hans@feleboga.com and we will send you CDs!

We took the boat and then drove through Denmark and performed at the Lord Nelson's Irish Pub in Brunsbüttel before rehearsing new material and making demo (and potential CD) recordings in Dithmarschen. With a simple 4 mic setup, all in the same room we focused on songs and tunes with Paul singing lead. He even made up some new lyrics. Wednesday night we played a Kulturkneipe Bornholdt in Meldorf. On the way home we stopped by our Danish friends the Gruviers, So nice to meet again, just a short time after the Kattinge meeting. Thanks for having us!

In May we played for the Hordaringen dance group in Oslo while Alix led the dancers. Then we played on the Roots&Rock'n Roll stage downtown at Oslo's Music Day on June 4th before heading over to the American church in Oslo and played for another square dance there. And again people showed up, brought food and had a great time. We're hoping to repeat this soon.

So we are off and running as a five piece stringband!

We played at the Christmas fair of Mattias old school in December and now we performed as the first half of Buckley's Pub's Bluegrass night in downtown Oslo. It was great fun and captured on video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VW5inVegk1E

It's been a while since we have come back from this summer's extensive travels in the US, but some summing up is certainly necessary! Feleboga would like to thank all the great people who made it possible for us to see old and make new friends and play music for them all. We started out on the Monterey peninsula and played yet another concert at the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts in Carmel where Robert Reese set us up for a mixed concert of American and Norwegian traditional music. After that we played at the Old Monterey Farmers Market before we headed on to Minnesota to see family. There cousin Bill Priedeman arranged a house concert with his spacious house packed. Just a mile from his home we ran into an open air jam session of old-time musicians!

Back in the east we attended the Swannanoa Gathering again at Warren Wilson College near Asheville, NC and then our friends Bruce Greene and Loy McWhirter set up a concert at the Celo Community Center in Burnsville, NC. There we focused on the Norwegian, the place was packed and one audience member had just moved there from Oslo after attending the very same high school Mattias is starting at!

After Clifftop where Mattias and Elizabeth competed in adult fiddle and Mattias also in youth band (with " The Moose Whisperers") we visited Ashland, KY, home of Ed Haley and then visited with the Kentucky branch of the family and played at the Kentucky Coffeetree Café in Frankfort, thanks to John Harrod and Tona Barkley. Again we mixed Norwegian and Appalachian and played both banjo and hardingfele!

We played the Center for the fourth time now, again with a mixed program of Norwegian and Appalachian folk music. This time we attracted the local folkies of the Monterey peninsula. What fun!

Last night we played at the American Lutheran Congregation in Oslo. I think it was announced as a social evening with food and dance, and our friend Paul Kirby set it up. It turned out to be a total blast. There were plenty of people and they were more than eager to dance, even if most had never ever been in a square before. Mary Seim taught waltzing, some clogging and Cajun two-step, but it was my debut calling southern squares anywhere else than the safe haven of the Swannanoa Gathering. It was just great fun and exceeded our expectations by miles. Mattias and Elizabeth played fiddles and Paul and I alternated playing guitar and banjo. And Paul sang some wonderful songs and Mary closed the evening with another great dance. Thanks everybody! We hope to do this again soon.
